The two historic Colgar boring-milling machines are replaced by a new Soraluce FXR 260 travelling-column boring-milling machine, with a 26-metre working travel and a 6-metre vertical travel, equipped with a Heidenhain TNC 7 CNC.

To meet customers’ requests for increased production, the machining department building is extended and a new Soraluce FXR 24000 boring-milling machine is installed, with a 24-metre working travel and a 6-metre vertical travel.

After the roof of the production plant is rebuilt, a 500 kW photovoltaic system is installed.

A second painting booth is purchased to cope with the growing workload.

Market demand shifts towards large-size steel structures, machined and painted. The second Colgar boring-milling machine is purchased and major investments are made to adapt the plant to the new requirements: new overhead cranes, larger doors and a range of equipment for manufacturing products up to 90 tonnes.

With the same goal of delivering a finished product, the first sand-blasting and painting systems are installed. In the same year the company obtains its first certification (TÜV AD 2000-Merkblatt HP 0).

Between 1986 and 1987 Francesco Baretto moves from small traditional machining to large-scale machining with the purchase of the first Colgar milling machine, in order to supply a complete, fully machined product.

In 1976 the company leaves its historic premises and moves to the current plant at Via Romitorio 125, Masone (GE).

The move provides larger spaces and suitable facilities for the development of production activities and the expansion of industrial machining.

After the end of the Second World War and with the start of the economic recovery, the company takes a further step forward.

On 28 February 1948 the company name is changed to the current FRANCESCO BARETTO S.p.A.

At the same time the corporate purpose is extended to include:

• wood and metal carpentry

• assembly and processing of industrial plants

• work on its own behalf and on behalf of third parties

This change marks the beginning of a phase of growth and consolidation in the industrial landscape.

During the 1930s the business continues to grow and consolidate.
Records of the time show an already well-structured production facility manufacturing a variety of products.

In 1936, for example, the company delivers 300 battalion carts, demonstrating significant production capacity and a growing industrial organisation.

As production and industrial needs evolve, in the 1920s the company expands its activity, adding the production of metal carpentry components to woodworking.

This choice marks an important step in the development of the business, which begins to diversify its processes and acquire new technical skills.

The Francesco Baretto company is founded in 1902 as a craft business specialising in the production of wooden carpentry items.
Its first products include wheelbarrows and handles for work tools, such as pickaxes and shovels, essential for farming and for the building sites of the time.

From the very beginning the company stands out for the care of its workmanship and the strength of its materials, features that would become the hallmark of Baretto production over the years.
